‘Hate to Love: Nickelback’

Gimme Sugar is incredibly proud to release our latest feature-length documentary, ‘Hate to Love: Nickelback’. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2023, before a global cinema release in March 2024. It is currently available to stream on the Live Nation owned ‘Veeps’ platform. Wider streaming to be announced soon.

Gimme Sugar produced the project from start to finish that includes in-depth conversations with the band, their families, friends and fans. It also includes appearances from Ryan Reynolds, Lewis Capaldi, Justin Hawkins and many more. The film explores the bands huge success in the 2000s before they were the first to be caught in a wave of online vitriol. The film also captures the band back at their best, with new fans, sold-out tours and a new audience finding the band online. It’s heartfelt, genuine and emotive music story-telling at it’s best. The Police - Greatest Hits

We were hired by Universal Music Group to create a series of social videos to promote the release of the Greatest Hits from The Police. Leveraging our direct relations with the artists and management we secured 3 brand new interviews with Sting, Stewart and Andy and set those interviews to a contemporary design of archive, stills and video aimed at a younger social audience.

The results were compelling. Over 500k views in 24 hours.




The body shop - live resiliently

Working with our friends at Craft Media London (who led on the strategy and planning) we devised, produced and delivered a multi-platform campaign across TikTok, in-store, online and commercial radio. Targeting resilient consumers of The Body Shop to share advice and support to their younger selves. Gimme Sugar handled all aspects of the production from concept, post and talent management. Securing the services of international recording artist and Spice Girl, Melanie C. Melanie recorded our song, our radio campaign and starred in our 2 videos. One was a overall brand film and the other more focused on product. You can hear the radio campaign in our audio section.

The campaign resulted in The Body Shop’s biggest and most successful digital campaign ever and yes, Melanie is as wonderful as you’d expect!

Junos 2023

Gimme Sugar was asked by the JUNO Awards in Canada to produce the headline video package for the televised event, including the main ‘Hall of Fame’ inductee category. We recruited the world’s biggest movie star, football club owner and all round top fella, Ryan Reynolds to appear. Gimme Sugar wrote the scripts, created and produced the piece, one of which can be seen here.

Nike Swim

Another project with our friends at Craft Media London, we produced a beautiful film for Nike Swim. We sourced the talent, wrote the treatment and produced the project for a social campaign across their own channels and with an extensive media investment.

PGL

It’s impressive what can be done in a day and with a super tight budget! But thanks to a good client and a great little team we filmed this for under £10k. We shot on location at PGL in Dorset for a small digital only social campaign, but the client liked so much it became their actual TV ad!
